Yahoo SEO Basics
Perhaps Yahoo (soon to be part of Microsoft???) lags behind Google as a
search engine of choice, however, there are some pluses to being listed with
Yahoo.
Always note that Your SEO efforts could be trashed (in seconds):
-
If you just happen to create something on your web site that is not
acceptable to a search engine's current content or
-
Perhaps some page(s) on your site is
reported to the search engine as SPAM (perhaps by a competitor?)
-
What happens when you create some new way of
organizing content that confuses the bots/engines? (i.e. your
site drops in from the search results after you publish your new site organization...)
-
some other Murphy moment, event, ...
There is no guarantee for search placement (even for paid search!) - best to
study/research the search engines - or hire a consultant. :)
-
Yahoo notes for
webmasters - this actually took me longer to find on Yahoo
than on the other search engines....
-
Yahoo
Publishers - display advertisements from Yahoo.
-
Submit
your site to Yahoo for consideration - as with the other
search engines they may or may not include your site in their index.
-
Report
search SPAM pages (i.e. you follow the Yahoo
search link and wind up on some really strange, unrelated web
site.) Note - the page/site may not be SPAM but it also
may not be properly indexed by the search engine...
-
Advertise
with Yahoo! - online marketing services - purchase sponsored
positioning.
